Equipment on Brandenburg Farms

This John Deere Model 6300 tractor and the John Deere Batwing Mower are used for mowing and grooming grass areas of farmland operated by Brandenburg Farms, including grassed waterways, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land, roadsides, and farmsteads.   A continuing image presented to neighbors and passers-by that lands are carefully maintained, enhances the land value. john deere 6300 tractor and batwing mower

john deere 1790 16-31 planter John Deere 1790 16-31 Planter, equipped with no-till hydraulic variable rate drive, Smart Box (tm) insecticide applicator, and Global Positioning System (GPS) monitoring.  The Smart Box (tm) applicator permits the application of as little as a half-pound of insecticide per acre, and includes both metering and flow sensing to measure the application rate and ensure that the rate was actually applied, regardless of the planter speed over  the ground.

john deere 9760 combineJohn Deere 9760 Combine, equipped with GreenStar(tm) yield mapping, auto steer, a 35-foot grain platform and an 8-row corn head.  GreenStar(tm) displays yield and grain moisture content in the combine cab, and also stores the data in a portable computer memory chip so the file can be transferred to the Brandenburg Farms office computer system.  Field, crop, variety, and moisture data are recorded, as well as up to 125 combine operator observations per field, permitting later return to the field for a closer look at specific conditions.  Complete, detailed yield maps are generated from this information for landowner and farm management.  The auto steer enables precision navigation to avoid overlapping and thus save fuel.

The semi-trailer is parked at the roadside to accept grain from the gravity wagon. Semi-Trailer and Gravity Wagon

Gravity Wagon Using this gravity wagon to move harvested grain from the combine to the roadside keeps the combine working in the field while the grain moves to market.

Properly-timed cultivation is essential to maximize crop yield in the silty clay-loam soils found in Piatt, Moultrie, and Macon Counties.  Judgement of the best time to "work" these "heavy" soils comes only with Brandenburg Farms' years of experience. Cultivation
