Corn & Soybeans are in the Ground

Trent Brandenburg has all his corn and soybean seed planted. He finished planting during the first week of May. Trent was pleased with the planting season this year. He was amazed to plant right straight through every day except for one rainy weekend. His corn seed germinated a bit slower than he wanted, due to the cool weather. Trent did not believe the small delay affected his germination rate at all. He doesn’t mind cool germination conditions, but doesn’t like cold and wet.

The rains occurring and predicted for the second week of May are welcomed by Trent. “We definitely need today’s rain,” Trent said Monday, May 11, while working in his machine shed. This rain will give Trent’s corn and soybean seedlings fast germination and rapid early growth, providing a good start to Trent’s 2015 growing season.
